Sometimes weird shit happens when you watch TV too late at night. I forget why we were up so late watching the tube, but me and the best friend that later replaced me in this band, Bob (at that point still a member of Alessa and Pathos), were channel surfing and all of a sudden there was a giant glass dildo on the screen. Confused by the 100% increase in phallocentric programming, we obviously stopped to check it out. Turns out that like Oxygen or one of those women's networks just starts selling fake dongs, QVC style, when it gets late enough at night. The "Sunshine Helix Rocket" is one of those fake glass dongs. After laughing about it for like twenty minutes, we decided that whichever one of us wrote a song next would name it "Sunshine Helix Rocket". Maintain Radio Silence won that honor with this song that sounds just like we are playing a shitty Mineral cover.
Also worth noting, Ryan, who was nowhere near the apartment that Bob and I shared when we saw this glass cock monolith at 4AM, immediately pokes his head up from his kit and says "Isn't that a dildo?" when I suggested we use the title. To this day we don't know how he knew that.
